In the heart of the Alpujarra Granada is Cástaras, a hidden village with lots of charm, but away from any place of passage. To get there, you have to pass through Lanjarón, Órgiva and Torvizcón. Shortly after Torvizcón we find a detour to Almegíjar that you have to take, and go up a narrow and winding road until there is a detour to Cástaras. As we approach the town we observe a beautiful view from the road.

Cástaras, which forms a municipality with Nieles and several important farmhouses, is a small town located around its church. In spite of this, it has three neighborhoods: the "high district" is abandoned, in ruins and almost empty (only three families live); the "middle district" is more livable than the previous one and, although only one family lives, it serves as a vacation spot for four other families; finally, the "low quarter" or "town", where most of the people of Castaño live.

Just over two hours drive from Malaga Airport and one and a half hours from the Historic City of Granada.
