Located at the foot of the Sierra de Bodíjar and just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea, this town has existed since the 12th century. It has narrow streets with whitewashed houses and balconies overflowing with flowers. The main attractions here are the Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the Ermita de la Virgen de la Salud and the Carenata fountain.
Ítrabo is perfect for hiking and enjoying nature, as well as for soaking up the sun and enjoying the beach. There are two walks that start in the town – the Ruta de León Africano and the Ruta de Al-Idrisi. Either of these paths will take you to the stunning surroundings, with lush green gardens on one side and with pines and eucalyptus trees on the other. In August Ítrabo celebrates the festival of the Santísima Virgen de la Salud.
