Cortijo with gardens, swimming pool and casita for rental

The main family house is a modernised 3 bedroomed 2 storey farmhouse with an attached 2 bed 2 bathroom rental cottage rebuilt from the stables of the main farmhouse. A tiled swimming pool is situated in the well kept gardens in a quiet area of the Rio Chico close to the town of Orgiva but still in the countryside. There are good walks around the property and the road leads up to Bayacas and beyond. It is an easy walk into Orgiva taking just over 5 minutes.
There is ample parking for both properties for several vehicles. The family house is lived in by the owners year round and the rental cottage has been let for holidays for many years and provides a good income. Both properties have their own electric and wifi and town drinking water as well as rights to irrigation water.
The main house has a fantastic garden room with views to the mountains and a big farmhouse kitchen, utility room and living room with cloakroom downstairs and patio areas all around leading to the garden. Upper floor has 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and 3 balconies with 360 degree views. Granada is a 50 minute drive away. Another 30 minutes take you to the ski resort of Sierra Nevada. Skiing is possible between December and May. The highest lifts take you up to 3.400 metres and from there one enjoys unforgettable views of Granada and right across the Med to Africa.
The Moors lived until the end of the 16th century in the Alpujarras. We not only still use their water channels and water deposits, but their original arabic names too. A proposal has recently been submitted to declare the Alpujarras a UNESCO world heritage site.
Hiking is pure pleasure here. It takes a 20 minute car drive to reach the borders of the National Park of Sierra Nevada. You can watch eagles circle in the blue skies, see ibexes fearlessly cross the cliffs above you and feel part of the magnificence of untouched nature all around.
